Bangladesh put up mammoth total of 286 runs against Sri Lanka
Bangladesh put up a formidable total of 286 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the first innings, setting a target of 287 runs for Sri Lanka in the 1st innings of the second ODI match between the two teams.
The Sri Lankan bowling attack struggled to contain the Bangladeshi batsmen, allowing them to accumulate a challenging total. The last two balls of the final over proved to be particularly costly for Sri Lanka, as both were dispatched for sixes, adding valuable runs to Bangladesh’s tally.
After losing Das early, Sarkar (68) and Shanto (40) counter attacked. They batted brilliantly to steady the ship for Bangladesh, before Shanto fell. Sarkar and Hridoy (96*) then put up another handy stand and laid the platform. Sarkar though fell after getting to a half ton and then Bangladesh lost a couple quickly. Hridoy though held fort at one end. The tail supported him well and he has taken his side to a very competitive score.
For Sri Lanka, it was all about Wanindu Hasaranga, who was the star and the reason Bangladesh did not cross the 300-run mark.
Hasaranga picked up 4 wickets off of 45 balls, while Dilshan Madushanka took 2 wickets in 30 balls
With a target of 287 runs to chase down, Sri Lanka faces an uphill battle in their pursuit of victory. The pressure is now on the visitors’ batting lineup to deliver a strong performance and mount a successful run chase to level the series, as the hosts currently have a 1 -0 lead.
