Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bowl in the first Test of the two-match series against Sri Lanka played at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Friday (March 22).

The Sri Lanka tour of Bangladesh 2024 is currently poised at an intriguing phase as both sides have claimed victories in each format. While the visitors won the T20I series 2-1, the home side emerged victorious in the ODI format 2-1.

Bangladesh have dealt with a huge blow as veteran cricketer Mushfiqur Rahim is ruled out of the series due to a thumb injury that he suffered during the last ODI encounter of the three-match series. 

Uncapped player Towhid Hridoy has replaced the wicketkeeper batter in the squad. Litton Das, who was dropped from the final ODI due to his poor form, has also been included in the squad.
