Sri Lanka choose to bat against Bangladesh in second Test

Skipper Dhananjaya de Silva won the toss and opted to bat against the Tigers in the second Test match of the Sri Lanka tour of Bangladesh 2024.

The Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram is hosting the game, which will commence at 9:30 AM IST on Saturday (30).

Bangladesh and Sri Lanka played one match against each other in this two-match Test series so far where Sri Lanka won one game and is currently leading the series by 1-0.

In the last game, Bangladesh won the toss and elected to field first. Coming to bat, Sri Lanka posted a total of 280 runs for the loss of 10 wickets in 68 overs. The standout performer was Dhananjaya de Silva, who scored an impressive 102 runs in just 131 balls. Khaled Ahmed and Nahid Rana grabbed 3 wickets each for Bangladesh.

Coming to bat in the first innings, Bangladesh managed to score 188 runs before losing all their wickets. Taijul Islam was the top scorer with 47 runs. Viswa Fernando picked up 4 wickets for Sri Lanka.

Coming to bat in the second innings, Sri Lanka displayed dominance by putting up a formidable total of 418 runs for the loss of 10 wickets. Kamindu Mendis played a crucial role, contributing 102 runs to the team’s score. Mehidy Hasan hunted 4 wickets for Bangladesh.
