Women’s Asia Cup 2024 kicks off in Dambulla

The ACC Women’s Asia Cup cricket tournament is set to kick off today (19) at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium. 

The first day features thrilling matches in Group ‘A’ as Nepal faces UAE in the tournament opener, starting at 02.00 p.m. Later today, India squares off against Pakistan in the second match at 07.00 p.m., also in Dambulla.

Hosts Sri Lanka are set to play their first match against Bangladesh on July 20.

The tournament, running from July 19 to 28, includes eight teams divided into two groups. Group ‘A’ features Nepal, UAE, India, and Pakistan, while Group ‘B’ comprises Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Malaysia, and Thailand. The top two teams from each group advance to the semi-finals, with the final set for July 28.

Earlier, Sri Lanka Cricket announced that all the games of the tournament will be broadcast live across international platforms, and the stadium will be kept open for the public to enter for free in order to witness the games throughout the tournament.
